WOYWW- #274- Hello sunny September

Hello to all in Blogland, on this sunny September morning....not a picture of my craft desk but of my sewing desk.  As you can see I'm just as untidy here as in the craft room. LOL    This week has been tyring to finish off sewing UFOs and design a challenge for my Quilter group.  So.....
This is the challenge, to design a fabric post card.  The theme is Sea and/or Sky and to use the 3 sequins in the design.  This is mine to show the ladies an example.   I used scrape from my painted bondaweb as the background for the sea.  Pieces of Organza laid across in 2 layers plus bits trapped in between.  then I sewed the design from the back, added the sequins and beads as bubbles.

This is my 2nd quilt I did in class, its a disappearing nine patch.  Sorry about pic abit blurred.  I took ages finding a backing piece, plus I was scared to quilt, but bit the bullet yesterday and did it.......

this is the reserve side plus the all important label,
So that's me this week.  For all the T & C's re our great bloghop, get yourself over to the lovely Julia's.

PS, Mum is doing very well, we see the Consultant for her 3 month check up in a couple of weeks.

WOYWW273- 3rd time lucky.....

Good morning everyone, I'm back for the 3rd time in a row so I'm feeling lucky.  This is my desk as of 5 mins ago, a couple of cards I'm doing for a class I'm, taking this afternoon.  Its all about lattice, how to make a lattice card using card strips etc.  I just need to finish the grungy one.....

As promised last week , this is my block using the Drunkards Path.  this is a variation called Twisted Path.  the bloke shows you how to make curved squares, not one of my favourites.  I applaud the ladies who make a whole quilt with these blocks
As I will be away for the September block this is my Ohio Star.....For all the T & C and how to join the great blog hop get yourself over to the lovely Julia's.
Have a good day &/or week......

WOYWW #272- Week 2..hurrah

I must be on a roll, happily I'm posting for a 2nd week @ the lovely Julia's, where you will find all the t & C's.

Well this is my desk this morning, still very untidy , it doesn't get better with age.  I found that my wet wipes had dried up' so instead of binning them , thought I would spray them!  then I will have to decide what to do with them.
I have also been continued with my quilting.  a lovely lady called Pat at my quilting group is showing me and several other a block a month.  This is my effort for July a Dresden plate, with abit of my machine embroidery in the middle.  this month it is the Drunkards Path.  will show when done.

PS Mum in good health after her cruise.....Good day all.

WOYWW 271- Hope stay abit longer this time

Hello, stranger back again, hopefully for abit longer this time.  I haven't participated in the lovely Julia's Blog hop for 4 months.  The news is good for those who are in the know.  Mum has been in remission for 4 1/2 months, currently on the high seas with my Dad in Norway.

So that said, I have managed to do a little work not on my desk, cos you cannot see it but the finished article.  A small chest, made to look like cast iron using one of Andy Skinner's techniques with paint.

I made a small photo frame, using the lid from the film strip by Tim Holtz, painted as well to look like cast iron.  Also other bits and pieces from Tim.  Added the dreaded micro beads which I found in the back of the cupboard.  To highlight some treasure gold, which made it pretty and me somewhat high from the fumes
(only joking).
Other side of lid.   I made this offering as part of a team competition, and we came 2nd.  I don't think they are ready for my kind of craft......
Now for something completely different, whilst looking after Mum , I took up Patchwork and Quilting, as easy to drop if need be.   This is a fabric quilting Advent panel which I finishing quilting yesterday.  Panel is from my friends Tanya's website.  I'm going to embellish it abit more.
This is a quilt top I have done, using a jelly roll plus the sashing.  Lots of stitching together and cutting up and stitching together again.  Great fun.....

Wishing you all and great week and happy blog hopping.....

WOYWW-253- Still here but not quite?

I feel abit of a fraud, as haven't done alot of crafting lately, this is my desk today.  Seems its a bit of a dumping ground at the mo.  Have been working hard on my Creative Embroidery course and this is my end of first terms project.
One evening bag made from scratch, the only bought item is the fastener.  Material was made using calico and painted bondaweb.  Machine embroidered , organza added etc.  Leaves again either machine embroidered or hand done. also used some angelina fibres and machine embroidered.

Now to the important bit to look at everyone desk, please hop over to the lovely Julias for the T&C.

For those of you in the know, update on my Mum, she has been out of hospital now for 5 weeks with si far no relapses. she is very frail and has lost alot of weight so I'm building her up .  Reason for my absence is I did not want to tempt fate and last time I wrote Mum only managed 4 days out of hospital.  So I'm am still here and read your blogs , but don,t comment.  no quite in the throws of bloging full time again yet.   Wishing everyone a good sunny day today.

WOYWW -#246-Sewing Bee

Its that time again, Wednesday where does the time fly and I managed to miss last week.  For all the T's & Cs go along to the lovely Julia's.
Did you all see last night, Sewing Bee is back, well these are my efforts.
This is the finished article for my Creative embroidery course which I showed 2 weeks ago in progress.  It is layers of organza fabric which has been sown to my design.  then the layers have been randomly cut.

I will have to finish my main project but will show you another time.

this is another project i have managed to finish this week.  found the fabric at a show and just had to have it.  Isn't great and know its not everyone cup of tea, but I like it.  So went to my first quilting class with the lovely Tanya Bashford who shown me the way to make a Wallaby bag.   it has 3 pockets on either side and 4 inside and its quilted.

This is a card I did get to do this week so still doing a bit.  Sorry to end on a sad note but Mum went back into hospital again just after I had posted 2 weeks ago so only home for 4 days.  Well that's how it goes.  Have a good day every one..........................................

WOYWW #244-Hello again

Hello All, I'm back again, hopefully for a bit longer than last time.
For those in the know My Mum was taken back into hospital just after Christmas with a massive infection.  I got her out on Monday, and she is much better this time.  We are now building her up.
I have been doing a Creative Embroidery course which started before Mum became ill, and this has kept me going.  So my desk today is not my craft room but the dinning table.  We have been looking at design, so took leaves , so my first pic is the design I created using Ivy leaves.
the yellow block is part of my design I used to make a design block, which can then be used to make any pattern you want.
This pic shows the blocks plus the start of my fabric design.  It has a base of stabilisher, then silk and 5 layer of organza.  I have then free machined my design  on the reverse.
This is the front of my design and I have started to cut out layers , to show the different layers of organza.

To join us on the biggest blog hop go over to the lovely Julia at Stamping Ground .  Have a good day.
